Spend March Break with the Kids at…. IKEA?!?

March Break Watch: Looking for things to do with the kids this week?

IKEA??

March Break at IKEA burlington, oakville, mississauga

Yes. IKEA. Believe it or not, IKEA in Burlington is hosting March Break activities all this week.

So, not only can the kids have fun beyond just the IKEA play area & ball pit doing fun things like crafts & interactive events, (like Mad Science) but you can buy that piece of furniture you’ve been eyeing in the new IKEA catalog.

And… as an added bonus you can enlist the kids to help put it all together once you get home! Ya, I know that doesn’t work – all that ends up happening is you end up with a handful of missing parts. But hey, you can always take them back for more IKEA fun while you try and get the missing parts replaced.

Oh, and yes I realize March Break is well underway. If I had known about this, I would have posted something sooner. Someone ought to say something …. IKEA…. ahem. Maybe they did – but I didn’t get an email. Just Saying.

Anyhoo, IKEA’s March Break events are now live in their Ontario locations. Our closest location is IKEA Burlington. So here is the line up of kid and family friendly activities that your kids can enjoy this week:

March Break Events @ IKEA Burlington:

  • March 16: KidsGoGreen (10 AM – 12 PM); Mad Science (12 PM – 2 PM)
  • March 17: Face Painting (10 AM – 12 PM); KidsGoGreen (12 PM – 2 PM)
  • March 18: Temporary Tattoos (10 AM – 12 PM); Burlington Fire Department Fire Safety (12 PM – 2 PM)
  • March 19: KidsGoGreen (10 AM – 12 PM); Craft Station (12 PM – 2 PM)
  • March 20: Mad Science (10 AM – 12 PM); Face Painting (12 PM – 2 PM)

** Activities are for children 12 years old and under. Parental supervision is required.

Since spots are limited & on a first come first served basis, you’ll want to head there early to ensure your child gets to participate. Maybe breakfast or lunch in the IKEA restaurant?

Are you a fan of IKEA? Or do you have a love / hate relationship with IKEA? Comment & share if you check out these March Break events they’re hosting!

March Break 2015, Oakville – Kids Activities In & Around Oakville March Break Oakville - kids march break activities 2015

1. Go Tobogganing! – It’s a great way to enjoy all this snow we’ve been getting in Burlington & Oakville. It’s FREE & it’s FUN! There are a ton of great hills in Oakville’s neighbourhoods to go sledding or tobogganing.

2. Get active & go skating! – Who doesn’t love skating and with the colder temperatures, there are a ton of great spots to go skating outdoors this March Break.

Live the life of a frog for a night – enjoy swamp water refreshments and food fit for a frog, create crafty amphibian creations, and get bog’d down in music, games and entertainment. More info & tickets

4. Burn off steam @ Indoor Playground –  Kids love to run & play. Although Spring is coming, it isn’t here yet. So check out our guide to Indoor Playgrounds in Oakville, Burlington & Mississauga.

5. Fun on the Slopes @ Glen Eden - Enjoy family fun at Glen Eden. Skiing, Snowboarding & Tubing – there’s something for everyone. Glen Eden offers rentals, lessons & tubing on Fridays & Saturdays.

6. Infuse some culture & enjoy Art @ Crescent Hill Gallery’s Family Event with Maya Eventov – March 15th 2-4pm

A unique family suitable event at Crescent Hill Gallery. 7. Who doesn’t love Maple Syrup? – Honestly, don’t you always find yourself telling your kids to “go easy on the syrup”? Well, now they can go Maple Syrup crazy this March Break @ Bronte Creek Provincial Park for the Maple Syrup Festival or to Mountsberg Conservation Area for Maple Town.

8. Make a Splash in Niagara Falls’ Waterparks – Have a howling good time @ Great Wolf Lodge or make waves @ Waves Indoor Waterpark at Americana Resort.

9. Go Green! for St. Patrick’s Day – Let your imagination run GREEN and plan a St. Patrick’s Day filled with fun activities – cook/bake up some themed St. Patrick’s day treats, dress up, make a green smoothie ;), make crafts – let your kids’ imaginations run wild with this one and have fun with it. It might just become a new tradition.

10. Visit Oakville Place for Barney & Thomas the Tank with Angelina Ballerina – Wrap up your kids’ March Break with an exciting free show from Oakville Place featuring both Barney & Thomas the Tank! Angelina Ballerina will provide meet & greets for the kids in between each show. March 21 & 22, 2015.

Oakville Place @ Centre Court on March 21st & 22nd:

  • 11am – Barney (30 Minutes)
  • 12pm – Angellina Ballerina meet and greet
  • 1pm – Thomas the Tank (30 minutes)
  • 2pm – Meet & Greet with Angelina Ballerina

My advice to you is to just relax & enjoy March Break whatever you decide to do. Plan it with them. Don’t feel like you have to cram everything you can into the week. Maybe they want a day or two to just chill. If you have teenagers – good luck planning anything! LOL. Seriously, you’ll need it.

There is a ton to do in and around Oakville this March break 2015 and I didn’t cover even half of it. So comment & share your plans or adventures in & around Oakville this March Break!
