This Family Day in Oakville, make it a family day of fun filled activities. The Town of Oakville is hosting Oakville’s fourth annual ‘Make Your Move’ Family Day celebration. Presented in partnership with the Oakville Public Library and the YMCA of Oakville, the Town of Oakville is hosting several activities and events at 13 location sacross Oakville this Family Day, Monday, Feb. 20, 2012.
Families will be able to participate in a variety of classes, including Zumba, boxing, Pilates and karate or check out the Scottish Country Dancers at the Oakville Museum (8 Navy St.).
The Oakville Public Library will feature Family Storytime, while River Oaks Community Centre (2400 Sixth Line) will have the opportunity for families to have their picture taken on a Zamboni — Sixteen Mile Sports Complex (3070 Neyagawa Blvd.) will offer a photo opportunity with a fire truck.
Tim Hortons is hosting plenty of free swims and ice time at several participating pools and arenas.
Families can take in a show at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. The pre-registered shows — Morgan’s Journey or Gear Music Performance Workshop — are free, but seating is limited so tickets should be reserved in advance by calling the box office at 905-815-2021 or by booking online at www.oakvillecentre.ca.
A Topper’s Pizza or M&M Meat Shop barbecue lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Glen Abbey, Iroquois Ridge and River Oaks community centres. Topper’s Pizza will also be available during this time at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.
All proceeds will go to the Town’s Recreation Connection Fund, which helps families in need participate in recreation programs.
Other Family Day activities are also scheduled to run at the following locations: Glen Abbey, Iroquois Ridge and Central library branches, Centennial Pool, Peter Gilgan Family YMCA, and Joshua’s Creek, Kinoak, Maple Grove, and Oakville arenas.
The day is sponsored by Genworth Financial Canada, Tim Hortons, M&M Meat Shop, Topper’s Pizza, Pepsico and Whole Foods Market.
